Swipe Right. Swipe Left. Swipe A New Job?
It’s no secret that college students can’t find jobs, much less a career, following graduation. And as a soon-to-be-grad myself, this is a pretty scary reality.
See what I meme? (Sorry for starting early with the puns)
So anyway, Jessica Anderson, who moved to London as a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh, decided that the answer to these problems was Tinder.
And no, she wasn’t using it as a way to sleep her way through finding a job, you pervs.
The 20-year-old had almost given up, saying she felt “demotivated” after she applied to nearly 150 jobs and had no luck.
But then Jessica had a stroke of genius and decided that, of the nearly 8 million people in London, a majority of them were probably using Tinder and she could use that as a way to solicit job offers.
She was right. By the end of one day, Jessica had 500 messages.
“I’m now in contact with different people working for organizations such as BBC and Sony and a big response from people working in marketing,” she said.
“A lot of people want to help and are impressed that it is a random but innovative way to find a job.”
We’ve seen what to expect with Tinder messages, and surely Jessica was no exception.
From “I can’t get you a job, but I can buy you a drink” to a porn star job offer, she hit all the bases.
While Jessica’s idea is unique and pretty successful, people who are looking to get laid are going to get pretty annoyed when everyone copies Jessica’s idea and starts posting their resumes instead of awkward biographies about how they’re “looking for something serious”
Lies.
Anyway, best of luck, Jess!
WTR?
Well, you can’t fault her for being innovative and forward-thinking, especially since it wasn’t the worst possible idea. But here’s hoping she found something. Dream big and do something to stand out Radasser’s, but be aware of where you’re posting.
