Once Again Alex, Well Done!
There’s more to it…
I made a post that made it to the front page yesterday and the Reddit hug of server death crashed my website. Original post: http://imgur.com/a/tYIKf A lot of people wondered what the small “promise cards” were about, so I thought I’d explain through examples…
There’s always a story behind a promise
This is from a 14 year old girl in Ohio. On the surface, this just seems like a nice gesture. But what you don’t know is that a two kids in her school system recently committed suicide. Sometimes in life we don’t know what to do. We don’t know how to make it stop, so we make a promise and do what we can.
More time. Less time
Sometimes it’s a promise to remember what’s important in life.
Special delivery
As a baker, Paige wanted to use her talent to help someone in need. Through a nonprofit organization, she was connected with a family that was requesting a cake for their little boy’s first birthday. Their son has been diagnosed with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, a serious and chronic lung condition affecting newborn babies. Paige was told that they were hoping for something “half vanilla, half chocolate and jungle themed.” Paige did her best to make a cake they would like. She then boxed it up for a 2.5 hour drive. “The last photo is the cake in its box buckled up for safety because I’m a nervous wreck when it comes to delivering cakes. My fiancé drove the whole way down and I watched the cake.” – Paige.
Lol. Good one.
Adorbs.
.6 miles
“In 2013 I was stopped 0.6 miles from the finish line due to the explosions. My family was waiting for me at the finish line when the bombs went off and luckily made it to safety although it was hours before we reunited. I ran to raise money for Children’s Hospital Boston, and with the help of my family have raised $10,000 over the last two years! Anyway, nothing was going to stop me from finishing my race in 2014. It has been my dream to run the Boston Marathon and that dream was stolen last year. I made a ‘Because I Said I Would’ running shirt to wear in the race, with my family and girlfriends name and a Boston heart on the back.”
because I said I would.
Because I said I would is a social movement and nonprofit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. You may know us from the drunk driver confession video that we filmed and released last year, but we aren’t about confessions. And we aren’t about drinking and driving. We are about making a promise to do what’s right… and there is a lot to do. Read more stories: http://www.facebook.com/becauseisaidiwould Request promise cards.
