He comes off as another rich guy with eccentricities, not a villain or a saint.
Before he became a big deal for several reasons, many people might have thought that Elon Musk was the name of a new cologne that would cost more than most people’s monthly mortgage. Over the years though, this billionaire has impressed many folks, not the least of which are celebrities, which he now gets to call his peers, kind of. From his upbringing to his purchase of Twitter, Musk has been a character of interest for some time, as his personality and achievements have made him stand out in a big way among those that have come to admire and respect his business sense and intellect.
However, there are plenty of individuals that would gladly point out the inadequate points of Musk’s person. Some believe Musk to be an intelligent but less than patient individual, while others cling to the idea that his Asperberger’s Syndrome is a good excuse for why he is the way that he is. After all, if anyone reads up on Asperger’s Syndrome, they’ll see that it’s a serious condition that’s not a major health risk but does affect a person’s ability to interact with society. Obviously, the condition isn’t that bad since Musk does just fine. But his ability to talk to others without coming off as icy, abrupt, and even a bit rude, could have something to do with this. The fact is that some folks think that Musk is a good and industrious person, while others might have something to say about that which is less than complimentary.
In response to the question as to whether Elon Musk is really that good or bad though, it’s important to look at the man and his life, not just take random opinions.
He has been married a few times.
Being married multiple times doesn’t make a person bad, but it certainly doesn’t make them a saint. It does make them appear more human since it stands to reason that if a person had the chance to settle down with another human being that they cared about, this issue wouldn’t be as newsworthy. But after reading a couple of articles dealing with Musk’s exes, it sounds as though they’re not bitter. Of course, a lot of people wouldn’t speak ill of another person that left them with a fortune that allowed them to take care of themselves and their kids. Yeah, that’s a little cynical, but in an instance such as this, trying to speak for or against Musk, and his exes, becomes a little confusing. On one hand, it sounds as though he’s kind of a jerk that sees people as commodities and possibly as property, but on the other hand, he was good enough to set his exes up once he left them. So in all honesty, he’s human, meaning he’s flawed, but he has a heart, kind of.
Money doesn’t make a person good or bad.
The whole idea that there’s not a squeaky-clean rich person in the world is easy enough to debunk, but it’s also incredibly easy to demonize them. Unfortunately, there are reasons. One is that rich folks sometimes have a very entitled attitude. Another is that they appear to think that the world exists just for them as they try to fling their money around to get their way when they want. But these are excuses that, more often than not, are born out of bias held by those who don’t have money, or those who don’t have the influence that money can bring. Yes, Elon Musk does have A LOT of money. But this isn’t what makes him a controversial individual. It certainly doesn’t help his case at times, but it’s not the main reason why he’s seen as a polarizing individual at times.
There’s a debate as to whether he’s really invented anything.
It’s bound to happen that many people are going to think that he’s a genius without question. Unfortunately. there’s still doubt in the minds of many people that he has earned this distinction. For one, the only thing that he appears to have invented on his own, if this is true, is his first creation Zip2, which was bought out years ago by Compaq. Not only that, but it’s tough to say that he did it all on his own. His father provided the loan that helped his business to get off the ground, while people around him have provided a great deal of their time and genius to make anything happen. In other words, Musk is an inventor in the same way that Kylie Jenner is a ‘self-made’ billionaire. People will argue about this all day until they’re blue in the gills, but the truth is that without help, there would be no Elon Musk.
His personality turns some people off.
An individual’s personality goes a long way toward determining how they’ll be accepted by society. A lot of people tend to think that Musk is a bit aloof and cold but is otherwise a no-nonsense individual that will not rest until things are done. Then again, some think that he’s a cold individual that knows how to bother, harass, and harangue those around him in order to get things done. How a person views Musk is kind of dependent on how well they know him and how well their own beliefs and ideals line up with his own. But one thing that can be said is that he’s not a talented man when it comes to comedy or anything that’s outside his wheelhouse. Seriously, if you’ve seen him on SNL then you’ll know very well that Musk made the right decision to stay away from acting.
Yes, his 155 IQ is still in question.
One thing that can’t be stated is that Musk is a fool or a dullard. But at 155, his IQ feels as though it might be a bit overrated. For one thing, bringing into question whether he’s been able to invent his own projects is enough to get people thinking. Then there’s the idea that while he does have skills that explain his IQ, there are plenty of other people throughout the world that exhibit these same skills but aren’t thought of as geniuses, either because they don’t have Musk’s fortune or his ability to grandstand and prove how great he is. Without really trying to bash the man, it does appear that he knows how to get people interested in the skills that he does have, but otherwise has a team of people around him at all times to take the concepts he comes up with to make them a reality. In other words, he knows how to manipulate his way into the spotlight like many others in the world. Does this make him a bad person? Not necessarily, but it also doesn’t make him a saint.
WTR? (Why’s That Radass?)
At the end of the day, people can like or dislike Elon Musk for their own reasons. He’s not a perfect human being, but he does have his own quirks like anyone else. It’s interesting to realize what people think about the guy, but it’s also intriguing to realize why some folks idolize him.
