This Underwater Eel Vs. Octopus Video Is One For The Books
An eel is by far the creepiest of sea creatures out there. Sharks look terrifying, but eels are like Voldemort-y and therefore so much worse. Snaggle teeth and beady eyes and slimy bone-less skin. Gross.
Nevertheless, snorkeling around and seeing one up close in the wild is pretty cool (or just in a fish tank is fine too). But some snorkelers in Hawaii caught some awesome footage of more than just an eel. They got the greatest three-way battle of all sea creature history.
I’ve been to Hawaii plenty of times and other than a few turtles swimming by, and hanging out in a shark cage surrounded by Galapagos sharks, I have never seen anything this exciting happen in the wild.
It’s not really clear who actually won the fight, and if you ask me, everyone is a loser. Cameraman got attacked, eel got an octopus tentacle stuck to its eye probably forever. Octopus lost a tentacle.
Then again, the octopus will definitely grow that back. And the cameraman caught this once-in-a-lifetime footage all on tape. But the eel? Didn’t get dinner and technically lost an eye.
I think we have a loser ladies and gentlemen.
