Ubisoft knows how to promote its Assassin’s Creed series. They teamed up with this dude to help make a real-life hidden blade & rope launcher inspired by the popular game. This kind of tech isn’t about to be sold on Amazon or in any toy store, but the impressive nature and engineering skills that went into these devices almost make it worth the effort of trying to market it to those that could possibly be trained in its use. You read right, ALMOST.
I don’t want to bash it, but there are a few issues to be worked out such as:
- The rope launcher would need a lot of heavy modifications, such as a rope that’s rated for a variety of different weights. It would also need to be constructed from a material that’s not known to break or fray
- The harness looks like it would be extremely uncomfortable and possibly harmful to the user unless it was custom-fit to each user.
- The grappling hoook would need to be rather heavy duty to hold any amount of weight, meaning it would need to likely be larger.
As for the blade:…Really, this couldn’t be marketed to anyone that didn’t have at least a little training, and kids would be out of the question. Just imagine the rash of slit wrists and palms, and possibly missing digits, that might break out if this went to the stores. Otherwise, it’s pretty cool, and yes, I definitely want one of each.
