Napping is a favorite activity.
Let’s be real here, Sundays are for laying around and napping whenever you get the chance. Your canine companion is likely to share a few z’s with you just for the heck of it, and there are days that will find you and your furry buddy snoozing on the couch without judgment. Who needs a girlfriend/boyfriend anyway when you have your dog to cuddle with?
You both also love to eat.
Right behind napping is your second favorite activity to do together. Eating. You couldn’t possibly think that any other human on Earth loved eating more than you did. Well… you’re kind of right. Because your dog loves eating just as much. And their favorite thing to do is grub out right along with their eating buddy. It doesn’t matter if what kind of food it is or even what time of day it is, you and your best friend are always ready for another meal together.
They’ve always got your back
Dogs are the most loyal animals in the world and they will prove that loyalty to you every time a stranger comes too close. Your dog has no problem showing this stranger who’s boss by attacking them without question. Do you have any human friends who yell and bite at strangers for no apparent reason? Well, I guess we actually could all think of one. But that only happens when they’re drunk! The point is, dogs have your back no matter what the situation. Making them the ultimate best friends.
They will comfort you when you’re sad
The great thing about dogs is they will love you unconditionally whether you are happy or sad. Especially when you’re sad. Dogs have this great 6th sense to them where they can tell when something is wrong with you without you ever having to show it. When the tears start flowing, you better believe your best buddy will be there to wrap themselves around you and comfort you through this tough time.
They are great listeners
Sometimes you have a ton on your mind that you need to get out but your human friends just won’t cut it because all they want to do is try and tell you terrible advice or worse, just not care about your problems at all. Stupid human friends! But dogs, on the other hand, can’t talk. It’s science. So you can just chat your little heart away about how much you hate your boss and why your crush won’t text you back, and your dog will always sit there. Silent. Just listening to your every word as if it was the most interesting thing they have ever heard.
They’re the best wingmen/women
Here’s another great example of how dogs are better than humans. Picking up girls/guys. Since dogs are freaking adorable, they’re naturally born as magnets to the opposite sex. You never have to think of an opening line when you already have them walking to you asking if they can pet your dog. And dog parks? Those places are better than Tinder. If you can’t find a date at the dog park then you must be doing something wrong. Get yourself a dog, and in a matter of weeks, you’ve got yourself a girlfriend/boyfriend.
They make great halloween costume partners
Halloween is the best holiday to bring out your creative side and start thinking of some great Halloween costumes to dress up in. The best part is when you have a dog that you can use with your costume. Dorthy and Toto? Boom. You’ve got yourself a costume. And nothing is cuter than a dog in a Halloween costume. It’s easy too because dogs don’t have a say in the matter. You’re going to dress them up whether they like their hot dog costume or not.
They’re always happy to see you
Whether you leave the house for 30 seconds or for 30 days, your dog is going to be there at the front door to greet you the same exact way. They love you so much the thought of having you gone for even one second drives them insane. Soon as you leave they off to the front window to watch you pull out of the driveway. Then it’s over to the front door to sit and wait until you return. But when you do finally walk back through that door, you will never receive a more loving greeting from anyone like you will from your dog.
They are always there to get you what you need
Dogs are smart animals and you can train them to do some pretty impressive things. Your dog is always there at your beck and call waiting to make you happy in some way. Whether it’s going to get the mail, checking to see who’s at the door, or running to get you another beer, your dog will always be standing by for your next need. Who needs robots when you have a dog?
They keep you in shape
Whether it’s because they need to go out for a walk or it’s because you want to take your dog out for a run, you’re constantly outside with them on the move. When nap time is over and it’s time to be active, your dog is the best motivator for getting you back into or keeping you in shape. At times you may be asking yourself “who is walking who” as your dog drags you behind them. But that’s why we love them. They keep us moving even when we feel we can’t go any further. They’re like our personal trainer except we don’t have to pay them.
Let’s face it, you need each other, even if a woman comes into the picture.
There might be a little jealousy if this happens, but that’s natural. Show your canine friend that she’s someone you want to add to your lives because she’s worth it, and your furry friend should accept it at some point, and perhaps even become just as protective of her as they are of you.
