Dive Bar Owner Yelps Back At Unhappy Customer
Megan B from Alberta, Canada might want to start using yelp before she goes into an establishment as oppose to just bitching about them on yelp after the fact. After all, that is how yelp works. After visiting The Iron Horse NYC, which I might add looks like a pretty awesome place, she gave the bar a one star review. In her review she wrote:
‘Wouldn’t recommend this to eat or for a quiet drink. I met some friends here at 3pm in the afternoon and the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other. The service was terrible just to get a drink at the bar. The food was also terrible.’
Well if Megan would have bothered to check out yelp or visited the bar’s Facebook page before hand, she would have known what she was getting into: A fun hole-in-the-wall divey bar with loud music, fun people and low priced food and drinks.
After the owner of this New York dive bar, Zbigniew S, read the review he thought a reply to Megan’s complaint was in order. His response was classic.
‘I read other reviews you posted on Yelp for places you have also visited. It seems you like quiet coffee shops and fancy food, none of which we have ever advertised to provide. Please note that our Yelp description even says: Ambiance: Divey / Noise level: Loud. So if you’re going to complain, I was hoping it would be about something that we actually advertise that we provide. We have four stars on Yelp, but it’s not because our food will knock your socks off.
‘The four stars are there because most of our customers come in looking for a fun time and to get away from the mundane of the every day, while enjoying a simple, decent meal at a low price.’
The owner of the bar finished up by saying: ‘I give you 1 star as you are terrible at finding bars and restaurants that suit your tastes. I’ll give you more stars if you come back and have a drink with me.’
If you walk in to something blind, then all you can expect is the unexpected. The bar posted this last week on their Facebook page which summed it all up.
‘Some people just have no idea that every bar and restaurant is different, in our case, VERY different. Those individuals should do a little research before confusing The Iron Horse for a quiet coffee shop serving fancy food.’
On my next trip to NYC I know where I’m going. The Iron Horse NYC!
