When a lot of us were younger, princesses were meant to be ladylike, demure, and almost always the damsels in distress, yeah? Things did change at some point and the change has been all for the better since the princesses in the stories we see now aren’t waiting for someone to come rescue them that often, and they’re not proper ladies, at least not all the time, that are waiting to be married off into another family.
Nope, the princesses of today are badasses more often than not, and even if it takes them a little time to work up to it, they end up being pure awesome once all is said and done. This definitely makes it a little easier to watch Disney movies at this point since seeing how awesome some of these characters have become gives some of us hope for the young girls that see this as they grow up. Hell no it’s not a feminist thing, it’s a we-love-to-see-women-being-badasses-with-a-heart-of-gold-thing.
Damsels in distress no longer.
It doesn’t matter if it’s legend or if something like this might have happened long, long ago, the fact is that Moana’s story is encouraging since it pits one young woman against a challenge that most grown men would have quailed from. Say it, Moana is a badass.
Despite not being as well-known as the other princesses, Kida is still one of those that a person can’t help has a certain amount of fire in her that carried her through, though she was still kind of on the cusp of being awesome and still being a part of the transition generation.
Anna is the type of character that might not be insanely tough in the physical sense, or maybe Han was just a sissy, but she’ll shred you with her attitude long before she has a weapon in hand. If it gets to that point, well, one best hope is that her skills with a blade don’t match her sharp tongue.
The fact that Kida became queen in her own story is a testament to the idea that she was never intended to be a damsel in distress. She was tough from the word to go, but she still had a lot to learn.
I’ll admit that Merida is my favorite princess since the fire and passion for being free to live life on one’s own terms is infectious. Plus, her attitude throughout her movie is nothing short of awesome.
Some kind of think that Ariel was one of those that helped the transition from damsel in distress to an independent woman since she wasn’t content with her life and was willful to a fault.
Those metal-gilded clamshells are for more than modesty it would appear in this picture. It kind of looks like Ariel’s ready to kick a little ass if she has to.
Don’t get me wrong, most of these are still building into the adolescent fantasies of those guys that might have grown up with Disney as a part of their lives, but the great thing about it is that yes, the women are showing a lot of skin, but considering they’re armed and look like they’re ready to kick a little ass it’s fair to think that a lot of guys wouldn’t try hitting on them.
Any princess that can take care of herself and do so from a healthy distance is the type of individual that doesn’t really need a prince at her side. But a lot of them tend to want someone anyway if only to stave off the loneliness.
Yes, back to those adolescent fantasies, and yes, a woman in armor holding twin tomahawks is absolutely drop-dead sexy.
Cinderella and a few others were still in the class of princesses that didn’t really do much other than sing and wait for others to come save them, but at the very least, Cinderella was a patient woman since she had to put up with a lot of crap.
With all due respect, Snow White was perhaps one of the weakest princesses ever and this is largely because she was a young girl when her story occurred. But as the years have gone by she’s been retrofitted as a badass more than once.
Something appears to say that this version of Jasmine has seen more of the world than Aladdin has in that getup.
It’s like a cross between a swimsuit competition and cosplay, but the effect is still pure awesome since it elevates every one of them to something far cooler than what they’ve been in the past.
The Force is definitely with them.
Having seen these pics a while back I wanted to present them now and give props to the artists that made them possible since this is insanely impressive, not to mention absolutely cool to see some of the princesses decked out in Star Wars garb and sporting lightsabers.
You would think that Kida would walk the light path since she believes in right and wrong and tends to stick to the right path for her. But perhaps if Milo was taken from her she might finally fall to the dark side. That’s a scary thought.
Imagine Ariel being a guardian Jedi for the undersea realm, or going back when she needed to in order to help out. It sounds like a messed-up story that wouldn’t work, but it’s likely that someone could tell the tale.
You kind of have to wonder what would turn Snow White into a Sith warrior. After all, the girl was sweet as pie throughout the entire movie.
Imagine Elsa as a Sith, someone who could wield a lightsaber and freeze whatever she had a mind to freeze. That would be a terrifying sight.
This would be a pretty cool weapon if Rapunzel was proficient with it and everyone gave her a wide, WIDE berth when she started flinging it around. On the other hand though, one can just imagine the kind of distance she would get with it.
There was only one princess/prince duo that could have pulled this look off so perfectly, but the funny thing is that Belle would be the level-headed one in this relationship since Han was usually the maverick between himself and Chewbacca.
Pocahontas was born to be a warrior, you can see it clear as day. But a little upgrade never hurts.
Despite how sweet she was, there was a bit of fire in Aurora and there was enough curiosity to her character that might have made her a little more than a damsel in distress.
This is the type of Jedi that feels like she would be practical, handy as hell, and great to have in any situation that might need a level head.
Merida is the kind of individual that would definitely be carrying a blaster just to keep her aim sharp, but would still be skilled enough to have a lightsaber on her belt for those up-close fights.
Prepare yourself, the princesses are coming.
How cool is it to imagine the princesses as various women throughout the Game of Thrones story? Some of them are a bit of a surprise, but there are some that are perfectly matched in a big way due to temperament.
To be fair, both Sansa and Rapunzel were kind of pent up since they had people to keep them in their lane, but near the end of their respective stories, they were both pretty badass. Rapunzel was a little more rebellious, kind of like Arya, but she was definitely more fragile like Sansa at times.
Imagine Elsa’s powers becoming the opposite of what they are and this would be perfect. But seeing her command three dragons, oy.
Tiana is pretty easy to match up with the most level-headed characters that have a can-do attitude. Plus, her level of determination makes it feel as though she would last a long time in Game of Thrones.
If anyone else would have been used to represent Brienne it would have been a massive mistake. But this selection was so perfect that it couldn’t be any other way.
Seriously, if Merida was a little more cynical this would be perfect, right? As it stands it’s not a bad match since Merida and Ygritte are basically the same person with just a different level of attitude.
Seriously, just imagine Aurora with a dark side and a very petty, evil nature that allows her to dump all over people. That would actually be kind of scary.
Thinking that Ariel could stand by and watch a child burn at the stake is, well, kind of intimidating and disturbing at the same time really. It makes one wonder what happened to bring her to this state.
Inked-up beauties.
You’ve got to figure that some folks might have an issue seeing any of the Disney princesses inked up like this. But you know what we say here at Radass? The hell with it, let them get inked up and let’s see how it turns out. After all, it wouldn’t be the worst way to represent the princesses, and it would allow them to stand out as individuals in another interesting way.
These are the kind of princesses that a lot of guys would love to hang out with or hook up with in real life since their dedication to their body art is on point and pure fire.
Given that Raja is a loyal protector and defender and has her back, this tattoo makes a lot of sense, and it’s hella cool to boot.
Don’t go too hard on her, since this kind of look makes Belle a lot more interesting and gives her a little more depth.
If Tiana had a tattoo it’s fair to think that it wouldn’t draw too much attention and it would be something that would be just as elegant as she is, right?
Seriously, a real-life Ariel might actually be the type that would end up getting tatted up and show her father what’s what by doing exactly what she wanted to do.
Belle’s in her own little world, as usual, while getting a meaningful tat.
Honestly, this kind of speaks for itself.
WTR?
If you really have to ask, go on back to the top and start scrolling down again, since seeing the princesses in this light is absolutely impressive. Props to the artists for having the vision that allowed them to put these down like this.
