When You’re 8-Years-Old and You and Your 4-Year-Old Sister Crave McDonald’s Cheeseburgers…
According to The New York Post–
This hungry 8-year-old didn’t let his lack of a driver’s license stop him from getting a Big Mac.
Police were called to a McDonald’s in East Palestine, Ohio, over reports Sunday night that a young boy had pulled up to the drive-thru window in a van, news station WFMJ reported.
The boy had been craving a cheeseburger, but his parents were sleeping, police said.
That’s when he decided to take matters into his own hands.
“This kid learned how to drive on YouTube. He probably looked it up for five minutes and then said it was time to go,” East Palestine police officer Jacob Koehler told the Morning Journal News.
He reportedly got behind the wheel of his dad’s van around 8 p.m. with his 4-year-old sister in the passenger seat.
Witnesses told police that he expertly drove to the fast food joint, following traffic laws and staying under the speed limit.
“He didn’t hit a single thing on the way there. It was unreal,” Koehler said.
McDonald’s workers said they thought they were being pranked when he drove up to order a cheeseburger with money from his piggy bank.
“The workers thought that the parents were in the back, but obviously they weren’t,” Koehler said.
Police said the 8-year-old burst into tears when he learned that he did something wrong. He told officers that it was his first time behind the wheel.
The siblings’ efforts weren’t all a waste — they were still able to enjoy a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets and fries as they waited for their grandparents to arrive.
No charges were filed, but it is unclear if the children were grounded.
This whole story pretty much sums up why I get irritated when people tell me they don’t know how to perform some menial task. You can learn how to do everything on YouTube! don’t ask me how to do your taxes, unclog the sink, or change your car battery when you can literally search it on youtube and come up with thousands of videos that will give you a step by step breakdown. For gods sake, this 8 year old kid figured out how to drive to McDonalds from a damn YouTube video.
