WW2 Vet Throws Mariners’ First Pitch on Memorial Day
The Seattle Mariners beat the Padres 9-3 on Memorial Day, but not one play in the game out did the true highlight of the day. Before the game, lefty 92-year-old United States Petty Officer Burke Waldron trotter out on the field to throw the games first pitch. To honor this American hero on Memorial Day, Waldron was asked by the Mariners to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game with the Padres. The 92-year-old didn’t just walk out to do his calling; he jogged out faster than most people 30 years his junior and delivering a pitch that would make any over the age of 50 envious of his athletic agility.
