Coachella 2013 is half over, and you might be wondering what the buzz is all about. If you mutter the word “Coachella” around any college campus, you’ll probably get a few kids rubber necking to find out what you’re going to say about it. Coachella is a music and art festival extravaganza that takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California in the Inaldn Empire’s Coachella Valley. The event runs for a total of 6 days over the course of 2 consecutive weekends. Several music genres including Rock, Hip Hop, and Electronic Dance Music are highlighted with some of the biggest names in music.
In 2012, Coachella sold out in January, and made a staggering $47,313,403 in gross ticket sales, and had an attendance of 158,387 for the two weekends combined. (Numbers courtesy of Billboard Boxscore)
The sense of community at Coachella 2013 is incredible. Everyone comes to have a good time, and is treated as one big party! There are camp grounds usually filled with large pickup trucks and plenty of tail-gating. Of course with such a fun atmosphere, comes a lot of pretty ladies. In hot 100 degree Indio heat, you can bet that Bikinis and short-shorts are the attire of choice.
