Texas Police Officer Plays Football On The Job
Police dashboard-mounted cameras normally catch the worst of human behavior. But this camera in a patrol car caught something a bit different. It captured a heart-warming moment of Sgt. Ariel Soltura taking time out of crime fighting to play football with a lonely youngster.
Footage from the in-car camera was uploaded by Rosenberg Police Department in Texas to their Facebook page, with the caption: ‘While a 2 minute game of football might not mean anything, to some it could mean everything!’

The officer’s act of kindness has melted hearts around the world, so the local news wanted to introduce you to him: Sgt. Ariel Soltura.
Sgt. Ariel Soltura noticed a boy playing football with himself and the officer stopping to play catch with him for awhile. Sgt. Soltura said Rosenberg Police make an effort daily to police “with” the community. On the Rosenberg Police Department Facebook page resident Karen Hargraves says “The officers in our city of meadows place stop regularly to talk to the kids on the street and give them junior police stickers. It helps the children feel comfortable with them so they know not to be frightened in a situation when the cops are needed. Too many kids are taught by adults that the police are bad, we need to change that while they are young””
The young man in the “Football/ Dash Cam” vid, 10 year old Jermaine Ford, now says he want to be a football player OR an officer. Now that’s a cool feeling!.
That is a real police officer and a cool guy. Our society needs more policemen that are allowed to show themselves as fellow humans and not some sort of armed enigma. Someone is going to complain that it is a waste of taxpayers money, but I see it as free and excellent PR as well as a possible life changing moment for more young men like Jermaine Ford. Kudos to Sgt. Ariel Soltura and the Rosenberg Police Department!
As you will see in the video, Sgt. Soltura did more than play catch with that young man. He made a difference!
