Lazy People: Move To France
Apparently getting paid to do absolutely nothing for your career isn’t a dream come true to some people.
One man is suing his ex-employer for $400,000 basically because he doesn’t come home from his job completely burnt out or overworked, like some of us.
He says his job is so boring it actually drove him mentally ill for the last four years of his employment.
Cry me a river.
bored at work
Frederic Desnard has accused his ex-employer, a perfume company named Interparfum, of subjecting him to “an insidious descent into hell, a nightmare.”
The 44-year-old from Paris, France also described the results of his tragic boredom, which include “epilepsy, ulcers, sleep deprivation and serious depression.”
Talk about dramatic.
“I was ashamed to be paid to do nothing,” he said. “The worse part of it was denying this suffering.”
He was fired in 2014 after seven months sick leave.
I understand being ashamed to be paid for not do anything. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he has a pretty good moral compass in that sense.
work boredom
But I am bored at work all the time. Do I complain about it? Sometimes. Do I plan on suing my boss for not giving me enough work? Hell no.
While I find it hard to believe Desnard’s story, apparently 30% of French workers feel the same “bore out” towards their employers and jobs.
But you know what I think?
No one is asking you to stick around and get paid to be bored. Go find a new job.
Buncha drama queens.
