I watch the draft every year and normally it’s boring. I don’t know why I keep coming back.
But this year was different..
Probably the craziest thing I’ve ever seen happened. Minutes before the draft started, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil had a video of him smoking a bong with a gas mask tweeted from his account. He claims he was hacked. This is one of those times I actually believe someone was hacked. The guy already had character concerns coming into the draft. Why on Earth would he deliberate tweet something that would cost him millions of dollars?

After the video went up, the Baltimore Ravens chose to pass on Tunsil when it was expected he would be picked by them at number 6. They instead drafted Ronnie Stanley. He dropped to number 13 where he was picked by Miami.
No big deal, right? He slipped 7 spots. Whatevs.
Actually, big whatevs. Because of the collective bargaining agreement, players are capped at how much they can make based on their draft position. Those 13 spots cost Laremy $8 million.
The entire thing is dumb because who gives a shit about a college kid smoking weed? Why is marijuana even still prohibited by the NFL when it is legal in two states that have NFL teams? Let the players get stoned if it doesn’t effect their work on the field.
