Seattle’s Famous Gum Wall To Get Deep Cleaning
For the first time in it’s 20-year existence Seattle’s famous Pike Place Gum Wall will get a complete cleaning. Through the years the wall has been scrapped several times but never had a deep cleaning that removed all of the millions of gum wads that tourist have put on it over the years. On the Gum Wall’s Facebook page it reads: “For the first time in 20 YEARS, I’m due for a total scrub down. Just like you, all that sugar can really mess up the surface of your bricks, er, teeth!” The Seattle Times reports that a crew of two to three men will bring in a machine that will melt the gum with 280-degree steam to remove the sticky mess.
