Some of us have had Netflix since day one. Okay, maybe not day one. Most people don’t realize Netflix actually started in 1997 with just a DVD-through-mail service. They started home streaming in 2007. So when I say day one, I mean 10 years later but when Netflix started to matter.
New users have been paying $9.99 a month for basic plans for a while. But many of us have grandfathered accounts with a price of $7.99. That deal is no longer as of May 1.
From ABC News:
“Beginning in May, the price update is rolling out elsewhere based on member billing periods,” Netflix told ABC News in a statement. “Impacted members will be clearly notified by email and within the service so that they have time to decide which plan/price point works best for them.”
It’s still cheaper almost all other streaming services. They definitely have better original content than any streamer (and most TV networks.
