This Team USA Sailor Lucky to Be Alive After Falling Overboard

This is probably the scariest moment of this guy’s life and it was all caught on video. Graeme Spence, a member of Oracle’s Team USA sailing team, is amongst the best sailors in the world.
These boats are huge and incredibly fast. Last year, Emirates Team New Zealand reached speeds of over 50 miles per hour. The America’s Cup sailboats are top of the line, high quality and high tech. They are built from carbon fiber and feature razor sharp hydrofoils slicing through the water.
In the video, the sailor went overboard, but instead of clear off to either side of the boat, he fell off the front. Under the boat is the hydrofoil that would surely slice through him like butter. Also, there are two hulls of the catamaran which could have ripped him in half.
