Got a 1000-lb pumpkin and wondering what you should do with it?
Every year in this small Canadian town people gather together for an annual Pumpkin Festival for a weight off, a parade and a pumpkin Regatta, a water race using huge pumpkins for boats.
The event is held on the waterfront of the small Canadian town of Windsor in early October, and although the festival is a good time, nothing is more popular than the boat race. Giant pumpkins weighing anywhere from 300-800 Lbs are carved into boats then decorated before their 500-meter journey across Lake Pesaquid. The race usually take 7-30 minutes to complete depending on the method of power used. There are hardcore boaters that paddle their way across the lake while others attach motors to their pumpkins to reach the finish line.
