Rhythmic Drums. Vibrant Vocals. Sonorous Spacy Synths…The elements that make up Imagine Dragons in the Alternative Rock scene. The signature sound carries the third studio album, Evolve, released over the weekend.
It has been about a decade since Dan Reynolds, lead singer, met with Andrew Tolman, drummer, to form Imagine Dragons. They first grew popular at a Las Vegas festival when Patrick Monahan, lead singer of Train, was unable to perform due to illness. The Dragons filled the spot and won hearts.
In 2012 the first studio album released, titled Night Visions, with EP’s before and after. Night Visions launched the Dragons into the industry with hits Radioactive and Demons. A few years later a second studio album was released, Smoke + Mirrors. At this point they had a Grammy under their belt and left a mark in the genre. Fans adored them and their work. Perhaps it was the videos, which had their own depth and creativity, or their interaction with fans, like being part of prank videos. Or maybe, it was just being down to earth.
Forwarding to past weekend, Imagine Dragons launched a third studio album. With success over the years, it would be hard to believe this album is about the lead singers fight with depression. The seed from childhood that rotted over the years, is finally out, titling the album, Evolve.
Here is a pre-released song, Believer, which has gained over 100 million views.
Personal favorites are Walking The Wire and Rise Up.
