Imber, Wiltshire (United Kingdom) was evacuated during the World War 2 in December 1943. All 152 inhabitants were forced to leave the village as it was to be used as an exercise area for US troops preparing for the D-Day. They people who called Imber home were only given 47 days’ notice to leave their homes, never to return again.
Nowadays the village is still used for military training, mainly by the Ministry of Defense. However, on Easter weekend they allowed civilians to visit the 70-year-old ghost town and absorb a bit of history firsthand.
