Fingernails As A Subway Card Isn’t Really Useful In A Lot Of Places, But Science Is Cool
When you think of the future I’m sure you think of robots or living on mars or invisibility cloaks or something like any other normal person would.
But normal people aren’t the ones making the world progress in science and technology, so you probably didn’t think that future also entails a world where your nails can act as an access card to the subway.
I know it sounds kind of irrelevant, especially in a place like California where we don’t have extensive subways or public transit yet, but if you’re a girl planning to travel to Europe or NYC, this would come in handy.
A 22-year-old British student named Lucie Davis created a press-on nail that is made with a computer chip using the same technology that is found in your everyday travel card.
Okay I’m 22 as well and all I’ve done so far in life is become a crazy cat lady.
Anyway, all you have to do is literally lift a finger and you’re good to go. I can’t tell if this is innovative or just another way to make us lazier our lives more simple.
It’s illegal to take apart an Oyster Card, which is London’s official travel card, but Davis got approval and even painted the nails to match it.
