Ice Disks Have Been Blowing the Minds of Hikers and Scientists for Years
An ice disk forms on the outer bends of a river where the faster moving water creates a force, which breaks off a chunk of ice. Once the ice gets caught up in an eddy current, in the right conditions, the disk slowly rotates as it grinds against surrounding ice smoothing into a circle. According to Wikipedia, ice disks are a rare natural phenomenon that occur in cold climates only under the perfect conditions.
