Code Word Was “Extra Olives”
KTLA– A six-month joint investigation by the King County Sheriff’s Office and the police department in Sammamish, just east of Seattle, resulted in the arrests of five people, two of whom are accused of selling drugs out of a Papa John’s. According to the sheriff’s office, in December 2016 Sammamish police received a tip that Papa John’s employees were selling cocaine. The workers would make the sales in the franchise’s parking lot. Undercover detectives were sent to the Papa John’s and managed to buy drugs from two employees at four different times. “What the detectives would do is they’d order pizza and go out and wait in the parking lot,” said Sgt. Cindi West, spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office. “The employee would bring the pizza out and in the box would be the cocaine.” Investigators dubbed it “Operation Extra Olives.” “The operation got named because every time they’d order pizza, they’d say, ‘Give it extra olives,’” West said.
While i’m sure this kind of thing happens all the time, I love a drug dealing story with cool codes words. “Extra olives” is right up there as one of my favorite secret passwords. While it’s a good code word, I have always wonder what would happen if someone actually wanted extra olives? Do they just get a brick of cocaine and a huge bill? Do they get a Pizza with the coke? So many possible variations. Extra olives is a bizarre pizza request but not so bizarre that somebody wouldn’t order it. All I’m saying is maybe if these Papa John employees had used a weirder code word then they might have never been apprehended.
I don’t order a lot of pizza, but I might start now. Just ask for odd extras and see if i get any illegal substances. Seems like a fun experiment.
