British Night Club Bouncer Sells Home And Joins Militia Group In Iraq
Tim Locks a successful 38 year old from Surrey UK (a British county South of London) had a great life but felt it was time to help others. He had an awesome job, a nice home, great friends and did basically what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.
“Last summer I was at home, watching the news and I saw pictures of Mount Sinjar. I just thought I have a great life, job, beautiful house and I thought it is time to help someone else.” Tim Locks.
Knowing he was on his own with no help from his government, he put his home up for sale and started talking to someone about how he could make the trip and join the fight. His home sold quickly and about a month later, by way of Dubai, he was in Southern Kurdistan. Locks then joined Dwekh Nawsha, a Christian militia group in Iraq. He wasn’t motivated by religion but had no problem fighting for a group with strong Christian values. His only mission was to defeat the enemy.
“Back home I had TV in every room, a swimming pool, six to eight holidays abroad a year. I did what I wanted pretty much when I wanted. Now I’m here helping people with next to nothing, with a group of guys I’ve known less than a couple of weeks but who feel like family already.” Tim Locks
“I had no specific wishes to join a specific group. I just wanted to help people out here. Any society which kills people, cuts people’s heads off needs to be challenged.” Tim Locks
Tim says he didn’t go to Iraq to come out a hero or celebrity but rather to defend freedom and defeat Daesh.
