So, is China telling the truth, or are Prime Minister Trudeau and President Biden being paranoid?
The story of Prime Minister Trudeau, President Biden, and the Chinese ‘weather balloon‘, is kind of amusing in a way. To the ultra-paranoid, it’s another reason to state that the Chinese government is not to be trusted. Reports that the unidentified object that was shot down recently over Canadian airspace, or US airspace (reports tend to differ), had different equipment than weather balloons are known to have is a little troubling. However, allowing paranoia to take hold is a less-than-desirable idea for a few reasons. One is that such an idea can take root in a person’s mind and fester there for a while. That alone is enough to keep a lot of people from worrying too much about it.
For instance, the shoot first and ask questions later method doesn’t sound like something that Trudeau or Biden would ever think about. Right? But this time around it’s apparent that the two leaders felt it was wise to launch a strike that feels a little suspicious and out of character. Perhaps being a leader means being a bit paranoid, but this definitely feels a bit out of place.
So, what is it with humans when unidentified objects are seen in the sky? A lot of people are still of the mind that the Canadian and US leaders are saying what people want to hear when it comes to the news feeds. That’s paranoia, and it’s every bit as old as the fascination that a lot of people have with UFOs. How many people remember the first version of War of the Worlds that was heard over the radio in 1938? It was supposed to be a Halloween special, but people ended up believing that it was something far more ominous. Given the advancement of technology, one would think that people might think differently in this day and age, but obviously, that’s not always the case.
What was the flying object?
That kind of depends on who one asks, since it sounds as though the Chinese government has stated that the object seen over Alaska and then Canada was a sophisticated weather balloon. However, what US officials are saying is that it’s one of many balloons that have been used to gather intelligence on other countries. Now seriously, which is more terrifying, a UFO or an intelligence-gathering device that could ultimately give one country a serious edge over everyone else?
Strangely enough, a lot of people might say that a UFO is a lot scarier since it’s an unknown commodity. Yes, even with the movies, the TV shows, and the numerous other ways that aliens have been depicted and made into every day, some people still fear them. Why? It’s the unknown factor, not so much the probing, that gets to people.
Folks have always been scared of what they don’t know and don’t understand. A weather balloon sounds like something that people shouldn’t be afraid of since its purpose is given within the name. But a spy balloon tends to terrify a lot of people for a few reasons.
The issues with China are far from over
There are definite problems with China these days, and it’s the fact that a lot of countries simply don’t trust them. The threat of all-out war isn’t a wise idea, so a war of words is what’s been waged for so long in terms of aggression between the various countries. But perhaps China is stepping over the boundaries between wisdom and insanity at this point. Then again, the response given by the rest of the world isn’t much better.
However, sending ‘weather’ balloons to observe other countries and lying about what they really are doesn’t inspire a lot of trust. Neither do the few acts that China has committed within its own borders over the years. A lot of folks are still willing to grill China about its response to the coronavirus outbreak. So sending an unidentified object into American, then Canadian airspace where it was bound to be shot down is less than optimal.
The paranoia over an unidentified flying object is understandable
People are always on the lookout for UFOs, in fact, some people make their living chasing down stories and rumors. This time, however, they’re bound to be disappointed since the evidence that’s being reported is anything but otherworldly. In fact, it might have been a little better if the balloon HAD been a UFO. That way, people might actually feel a little more secure in thinking that aliens actually believe that there’s intelligent life on this planet worth visiting.
Unfortunately, plenty of pictures exist at this point to show how the unidentified object was shot down. Despite the fact that retrieving it was a bit difficult, and that not every detail is bound to be shared, it’s still far more troubling to think that a foreign nation is interested in what’s going on in the USA and in other countries. That’s a little funny to be certain, that another species from off-world isn’t nearly as scary as another country when it comes to their attempts at spying. Apparently, some folks think that a threat from the stars isn’t that bad.
The reaction of world leaders, at least two of them, is kind of surprising
Whatever opinion a person has about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Joe Biden, the act of ordering a flying object shot down is bound to make sense or feel strange. But the fact is that the balloon was shot down. How the two leaders are reacting to this does feel as though it’s not their common reaction, but is instead a knee-jerk reaction that doesn’t appear to be quite as coordinated as it should have been. True, China sending balloons to various countries across the globe to spy on people isn’t a great idea. But simply shooting them down feels like a reaction that’s born of desperation rather than forward thinking.
The fact is this: the balloon was apparently flying at around 40,000 feet, and in Trudeau’s words it posed a threat to civilian flights. But here’s the thing; shooting the balloon down posed a bigger risk if it wasn’t just a weather or spy balloon. It’s fair to say that it might have been a less effective mode of transport for a virus or other biological threat, but there’s still the idea that there was a risk in shooting it down. The efforts of Trudeau and Biden to keep civilian flights safe are great, but shooting down something that might have been designed to deliver a deadly payload once it was blasted out of the sky is, well, not that bright.
Ah yes, let the paranoia run wild.
WTR? (Why’s That Radass?)
Seriously, a lot of people were no doubt hoping that the unidentified flying object was an alien craft. It probably would have been seen as a lot more interesting. But the reaction by Trudeau and Biden might make a lot of people worry just a little more. In any case, it’s more drama for the media to feed to the masses. Hell, it might even become a movie one day.
