Stories about traffickers tossing packages of drugs over the border have circulated for years, but this month border officials have confirmed these suspicions. U.S. officials discovered a massive metal contraption attached to the top of the border fence that Separates the U.S. and Mexico, near Tucson Arizona. These clever drug smugglers had constructed the contraption out of square tubing and heavy duty truck springs officials said. While not powerful enough to lob illegal immigrants to freedom, the catapult was likely used to sling large bundles of weed and cocaine (weighing up to 50lbs) into the United States. According to USBP agents, Depending on how long the catapult was in operation, hundreds or even thousands of pounds of drugs could have been moved. We can only hope that the wall Donald Trump new border ‘wall’ is tall enough to thwart these ambitious crooks in the future.
