What is this thing called a ‘day off’ that you speak of? Kidding, I know what it is, I just don’t get them, like a lot of other people, haha. But for many, the feeling when that glorious day off has finally come is something that most people don’t want to miss out on. But does it ever feel to you that your expectations of the day off and how it really goes don’t match? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one to have this happen to them. In the current era, work can be extremely overwhelming and even create a spot of confusion when it comes to how to spend any free time we manage to get. It’s come down to the point where a lot of us need to relearn how to make the best use of our free time. Here are some tips you can use to turn your days off into a good-quality mini-vacation.
Don’t respond to work requests, don’t even think about them.
If it is a matter of life and death, you’ll know about it. Let them know your time off is what you really need – not to think about work in order to be more productive later on.
Run any needed errands.
It might sound horrible at first, but doing some cleaning or laundry will get your mind off work and help you keep a tidy environment, which will make you feel better.
Take the time to recharge your batteries.
We don’t all march to the beat of the same drum. Are you the type of person who recharges all by themselves? Do you enjoy spending time with friends? Do you just want to sleep? Whatever it is, do it.
It’s okay, put the social media away, you won’t miss much.
FOMO (AKA, fear of missing out) is a big deal, no matter how much we might want to deny it. When you leave your smartphone, you will feel the need to fall into the scrolling rabbit hole. Move away from the phone, tablet, and laptop. It will be good for your mind and body.
Seriously, just forget it all on your day off and do you while the world takes care of itself.
