It’s easy if you have the mind to follow it that is.
Some people look for inspiration for most of their lives and only find it in fits and spurts, and then others find it in mass quantities, and yet a lot of people don’t know what to do with it. The fact is that inspiration isn’t there for you to do anything with, it’s there to help you get your ass in gear and do something that’s all your own. When a person takes that inspiration and copies whatever or whoever made it work in the first place, well, they’ve made their lives a little harder and a little less genuine. Why you ask? The simple answer is that they’re not doing their own thing, but are doing something that’s been done before and are attempting to put their own spin on it. Sadly, this is what runs the world in a lot of ways, copycats that end up getting popular because they know how to be the people that admire and love them and don’t think twice about the fact that they don’t have an original thought in their head.
But that’s the negative side of inspiration, since like it or not, copycats are doing their thing just as much as anyone else. Moving on from that, the thing about inspiration is that it’s not everything you need, especially since inspiration alone won’t get you to the top of the particular mountain that you’re looking to climb. But what inspiration will do is give you the first step you’ll need to begin your journey, and at least a hint of the direction that you’ll need to travel in to attain what you want so badly. Do you want riches? Find a way to earn them. Do you want fame? Discover a way to make people pay attention to you. Do you want to be proud of what you do, and maybe even create a legacy that will be remembered for years? Then inspiration is the first step that can and usually does help people figure out whether or not they really want something, or are just pining for it because other people have it. Let’s face facts, envy is not inspiration, it’s a type of jealousy that can eat a person up from the inside out.
Inspiration is what urges you to excel as a human being. It’s what grabs at your heartstrings and starts to pluck in a way that makes it clear that you need to get up, get moving, and find a way to make your dream a reality. Inspiration gets you jazzed, it makes you move, and those who are responsible because they are your inspiration are those who are living life to the fullest as often as they can. It’s great that people can inspire other people to greatness, especially since it’s been seen to work over the years. But one thing I’ll always stress, along with many others, be YOU. Don’t be the person who inspired you, don’t be the celebrity you idolize. Be you, and the inspiration that led you to that point won’t have been wasted.
Some people give up before they start.
Another thing about inspiration is that it doesn’t just turn on and off like a tap, but it’s probably a good thing that it doesn’t. Instead, getting inspired takes time, effort, and being in the right place at the right time. A lot of people might not like hearing that, right? That means that you might not know when it will strike or in what form, but the only guarantee is that when it does, and if you’re paying attention, it’s very possible that you’ll find it beneficial to your mindset and possibly to your future if you’re ready and willing to grab hold of that moment and make it work for you. There are other ways to be inspired, but that wild, free-range inspiration is tough to beat since it’s almost like taking hold of a wild mustang and trying to make it do what you want. You’ll probably find the ride bruising and even hurtful along the way at times, but if you can hold on and weather the worst of it, you’ll find that the ride will even out eventually. I know, that’s a weird analogy, but the best I can at this time is that if you find that bit of inspiration at any given moment, find some way to make it count and to remember why it’s important. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting for your next moment, possibly for a while.
People are always bound to inspire others.
There are those people who talk and simply command others with their voices. Hey, it happens, and usually, it’s because they say something intelligent, heartfelt, or something that just makes a hell of a lot of sense. These people can be celebrities, they can be non-celebs, or they can be people we know throughout the course of our lives that aren’t famous for anything other than being someone who tried to teach us or simply tried to make sure we didn’t screw up too badly. Hell, some people don’t even mean to be inspirational, and yet they end up shaping the lives of one or more people simply by being themselves. It’s true that we look to celebrities and those who stand out from the crowd for inspiration quite often, but at the same time, one can’t help but think that sometimes, just sometimes, we can look to our own lives and the world that surrounds us to gain inspiration as well. It’s entirely possible, but some people are of the mind that it’s not the same. What do you think?
Being inspirational doesn’t require fame, it requires that you live your best life, or come back from your worst.
The way we look at other people, at ourselves, and at the situations that we find ourselves in from time to time is extremely important to the manner in which we choose to live. I could talk all day about being inspired, about being pushed to do something or accomplish this or that, but the stark truth is that unless you’re willing to act on the inspiration that you see on a regular basis, then you’re wasting your opportunity, while those who could be inspiring you are living their best lives because, well, they’re not waiting for that special moment to come, or for anyone to hand it to them. They’re out there grinding, working, and making sure that they grab that moment of inspiration so they can ride it as far as it will carry them. See how that works?
Celebrities are bound to be inspirational to a lot of people, sometimes.
Celebrities are often seen as some of the MOST inspirational people that others want to be like, look up to, and emulate in some way. That’s pretty natural to be certain since like them or not, they’ve worked their way up to that point and have earned the accolades they’ve been given. There are drawbacks to being a celebrity though, and a big part of it is while they’re inspirational to a lot of people, the slightest mistake they make will be compounded by the media, meaning they can go from being a saint and a convincing public speaker to an angel with dirty wings and a seriously long list of bad habits. Public opinion of celebrities tends to sway faster than a pendulum most times and it cuts even deeper on average. But looking up to celebrities isn’t the problem, it’s wanting to be just like some of them that might be kind of an issue since one has to remember that not all of them are as they appear to be when they’re on screen. In other words, taking inspiration from celebrities isn’t a bad thing, but take that type of inspiration at face value unless the stars manage to convince you that they are good people deep down and aren’t smiling for their next paycheck and nothing else.
You can see inspiration wherever you look, you just need to know HOW to look. If all you see of the world around you is what you take at first glance, then there’s a good chance that you’re not going to see everything you should be seeing. I know, that sounds like a lot of vague and confusing speech, right? I don’t blame you for being a little confused, I manage to confuse myself sometimes when talking about important matters. But the point is this: you can find inspiration anywhere. Take a walk, watch a movie, read a book, or just sit in your favorite chair and enjoy the day. There are ways to be inspired everywhere around you, and it can come in a bunch of different forms. I’ll be talking more about inspiration this week and including individuals that you might find inspiration in, but rest assured, you can find the means to be inspired pretty much anywhere. The trick is to pay attention when it strikes, and then you’ll find it SO much easier to grab that moment and just run with it.
WTR? (Why’s That Radass?)
It’s great to be inspired, and it’s great to inspire others, but it’s important to know what to do with it when you find such a feeling. Some people do nothing with it and let their lives keep moving forward in a hum-drum manner. Hey, that works for them. But those that find inspiration and keep moving forward and upward, stumbling a few times no doubt, are often those who are living their best lives and don’t want to stop.
