Men tend to notice that women hold horses in awe at times and connect with them in a manner that appears to be utterly confusing. It’s the male mindset, quite often, that doesn’t allow for this connection to be made unless of course a man has been around horses for much of his life and is well aware of what the connection is all about. Horses are magnificent animals to be certain, and as prey animals they tend to live in the moment, meaning they tend to pick up far more from a person than human beings tend to think of. From the tiniest tic to the very smell of a person a horse is aware of their surroundings and what they might mean, but for some reason, it’s often easier to note the connection that women make with horses as it appears to happen more often sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.
Horses do have biases, just not the way you think
It’s kind of funny to think that an animal might have a bias, right? But the truth is that a lot of animals can have a bias against a type of person or even a person that wears a type of clothing. Horses are no different since they’re not dumb animals as many appear to think. Whoever nurtures a horse might just gain a friend for life depending on the breed and how their life has been going up until the two of them meet. Let’s draw a few points to explain:
- Horses don’t care if you’re male or female. If you take care of them, they’re going to feel safe, secure, and will likely even be your best friend. This makes for an easier time taking care of them, riding, and keeping them satisfied in general. Be kind to a horse and they’ll be thankful, that doesn’t sound too hard, does it?
- It might even be the type of clothing that you’re wearing that sets them off. If they were abused or neglected by someone wearing a certain garment and you happen to wear that that same type of clothing, that memory could very easily trigger them and make a horse think that you’re dangerous or not trustworthy. This works with humans sometimes too, don’t doubt it.
- How you act around a horse also makes a huge difference, since if you’re anxious and twitchy they’ll definitely pick up on that, since as prey animals a horse’s senses are on high alert even when they appear to be resting or relaxing. One can’t really breed that out so easily, since thousands of years of being a prey animal is passed down, and as such the need to be on constant alert won’t just go away. If you’re confident, kind, and patient with a horse it can go a long way toward making them feel safe around you, since if you don’t act sketchy, they won’t act sketchy. Ever been around someone that’s continually looking over their shoulder? It’s kind of the same thing, only stronger.
Men and women have different mindsets when it comes to horses
Go ahead and say it guys, ‘duh’, right? It goes deeper than that though since men might make nice with a horse and consider them to be a friend over a period of time, but as it’s been proven time and again over the years, men and women do differ in the way we approach the world. For a lot of women, even if they don’t want to admit it, there is an almost animal attraction when it comes to horses that they funnel into an almost spiritual meaning. Get your minds off of the sick stuff that is to be found on the internet, since many women that get into horses feel a deep and very emotional bond with their equestrian friends that transcends the type of relationship that might be felt with other animals. Much like a lot of other animals that are kept and cared for, horses become part of the family, friends you can talk to that won’t judge you or quarrel with you unless there’s a good reason. It’s possible that men can understand this, and some do, but it takes a LOT of understanding to get to that point.
It’s an animal thing, just leave it at that.
Some folks are good with animals, others aren’t. Some women love horses and many see them in a way that holds their attention in a manner that speaks of a wistful longing for something they either can’t, don’t, or won’t ever have, and some women simply can’t do without them since horses are just a part of their lives. The main point here is that when it comes to women and horses, there’s a connection that we men don’t always understand, but can at least comprehend if we just shut up and pay attention.
